I’ve officially surpassed the 36 week-mark of pregnancy. It’s a milestone I never made with my son, and the question of how far we’d make it this time around has – to some extent – loomed over this pregnancy.
As I am sure many second-time mothers can relate, it’s an interesting experience going into birth with hindsight behind you. For me, the old adage of the more you know, the less you know couldn’t ring more true and as much as I feel confident and equipped to handle the wild ride of labour again, the unknowns and what ifs feel bigger at times.
Enlisting my friend and doula Charlotte Squires for a birth preparation session has helped immensely, and today, I thought I would share what that looked like for anyone considering investing in a doula. I’ll also be lucky enough to have Charlotte’s support by way of some postpartum sessions, so stay tuned for what that entails once this baby decides to join us IRL.
